NEWS and FEATURES
Alexis Peterson highlighted as Player of the Week
Player of the Week -- Alexis
Peterson, Medford Tech
February 20, 2010
Grade: Senior
Position: Guard
Height: 5-8
Accomplishments: Peterson is a scoring machine.
Through 19 games, she is averaging 25.1 points
per game. She had 31 in a 51-42 win over Maple
Shade on Feb. 2, 35 in a 57-54 loss to Burlington
City on Feb. 4 and 29 in a 62-48 loss to Pemberton
on Feb. 5. She notched the 1,000th career point in a
49-33 loss to Riverside on Jan. 20, pouring in 29
points. She has scored over 40 points twice -- 44
on Jan. 13 in a loss to Burlington City and 41 on
Jan. 7 in a win over Maple Shade.
Comments: "She gets to the basket at will," coach
Harold Booker said. "She does what she wants on
the court. She averages at least 10 to 15 foul shots a
game and about eight rebounds a game. She also
has a 4.24 GPA. She's a perfect girl. The only thing,
she doesn't have any help. (Wednesday against Penn
Tech) they tried to box-and-one her, tried to put
two girls on her. She still had 32 points. You can't
stop her. She's 5-8 and she'll go in and get a
rebound over a girl who's 6-foot."

Mrs. Beverly J. Hutton, Assistant Principal at the Westampton Campus, is pictured in the January 2010 edition of Teaching Music magazine. The photo shows Mrs. Hutton singing the National Anthem at the Department of Education in Washington, D.C.
Florence Henderson (of the Brady Bunch) and Arnie Duncan, U.S. Secretary of Education, are also in the photograph that was taken during the Inaugural Celebration of National Music Education Week.
